The Vision Of Emiratization

Emiratization is a strategic initiative by the UAE government to integrate its citizens, the Emiratis, into the nation's workforce, promoting socio-economic stability and prosperity while preserving the cultural and social fabric of the UAE. This effort aligns with the Vision 2021 National Agenda, which aims to build a competitive knowledge economy by empowering Emiratis to contribute to the country's economic development.

In the past decade, Emiratization has been successful in the public sector but has faced challenges in the private sector, where Emiratis make up only 0.34% of the workforce in 2022. To address this, the government introduced the Nafis program as part of the 'Projects of the 50', which seeks to boost Emiratization in the private sector by requiring employers to hire and retain a certain number of UAE nationals.

In 2023, new Emiratization targets have been set, with companies having a 4% bi-annual target, creating enthusiasm among businesses in the UAE. The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization (MoHRE) has expanded Emiratization targets to cover organizations with 20 to 49 employees, aiming to increase Emirati employment across 14 crucial economic sectors. This includes the requirement for these businesses to employ at least one UAE citizen in 2024, with an additional hire in 2025, demonstrating a strong commitment to achieving significant Emirati representation in various economic divisions

  • APPLICATION SUBMISSION: Once a suitable job is found, go ahead and apply for it by submitting your application. This typically involves filling out an online application form, attaching your resume/CV, and sometimes providing a cover letter explaining your interest in the position.
  • SCREENING AND SHORTLISTING: Employers will now review the received applications to screen candidates based on their qualifications and fit for the job.
  • INTERVIEWS: Shortlisted candidates are now invited for interviews. Depending on the employer's preferences, interviews may be conducted in person, over the phone, or via video conferencing. Multiple rounds of interviews may occur.
  • ASSESSMENTS AND TESTS: Some employers require candidates to complete assessments or tests to evaluate specific skills or competencies relevant to the job. This can include technical tests, personality assessments, or skills demonstrations.
